full-day elopement adventure in Ireland

Why you should have a full-day elopement adventure

An adventure elopement in Ireland isn’t just a ceremony or a photoshoot – it’s an unforgettable experience. If you’re drawn to nature, new experiences, intimacy, and authenticity over tradition, here’s why a full-day or multi-day adventure elopement could be the perfect way to celebrate your love for each other.

1. It’s your Story

A full-day or multi-day elopement captures your entire elopement adventure.

  • From getting ready in cosy accommodation…
  • To sharing your vows at castle ruins, hiking a mountaintop, or dipping in the sea…
  • To celebrating with a Guinness toast in a cute pub, champagne under the stars, or even a campfire

Your whole day matters—not just the moment you exchange rings.

2. You Choose Your Own Adventure

You’re not limited by tradition. You can:

  • Hike a trail at dawn
  • Say your vows in a forest, on a cliff, or in a castle ruin
  • Ride horses, kayak, stargaze, or simply explore new places together

Your elopement can feel like the ultimate date day, tailored just for you.

3. More Time means More Meaningful Photos

A full-day elopement allows me to capture:

  • Real, unscripted moments
  • Your connection, laughter, quiet, and beauty of the day

You’ll walk away with a full visual story of your adventure, not just highlights.

4. No Stress, No Rush

With a full day, you slow down and enjoy:

  • A relaxed pace
  • Time to connect with your partner
  • Spontaneity: stop for that rainbow, swim in a lake, or hike a little farther

Unlike a traditional wedding with rigid timelines, this day is about you.

5. It’s Intimate, Personal, and Wildly You

Adventure elopements let you:

  • Honor your relationship’s spirit—not societal expectations
  • Choose meaningful rituals (like handfasting or letters to each other)
  • Focus on connection over production

Whether it’s just the two of you or a few loved ones, it’s real, raw, and unforgettable.

6. It Can Be Part of a Bigger Travel Experience

Many couples turn their full-day elopement into a honeymoon kickoff or multi-day trip. You can:

  • Explore other parts of Ireland or it’s gorgeous coastal islands.
  • Visit nearby countries with beautiful scenery like Scotland, Iceland and Faroe Islands.
  • Have your wedding, honeymoon, and adventure all in one beautiful story

In Short: Why You Should Do It

Because a full-day adventure elopement lets you:

  • Celebrate your love in a way that feels right
  • Embrace nature, spontaneity, and intimacy
  • Create memories you’ll treasure for a lifetime—not just an afternoon

A real full-day adventure elopement in Ireland

This Ireland elopement was also featured on Wandering Weddings.

“I found Shauna through a Wandering Weddings post, and reached out right away. She was absolutely amazing. We had a meeting, and she helped me connect with Lee, our celebrant, and even sent over a planning guide with everything I might need for the day.”

Karen and Colton, U.S.A.

Karen and Colton first met working together in the Emergency department. They regularly hike and go ice fishing near their home in Collorado. They had an Ireland elopement to match their adventurous spirits.

They spent the whole day exploring unique and beautiful locations on Ireland’s North Coast. They began their adventure with an emotional first look on the Beach.

Their ceremony then took place at the ruins of Dunseverick Castle, where officient Lee used long grass grown at the ceremony site to bind their hands in a Celtic Handfasting Ceremony. Towards the end of the ceremony, the rain started. Everybody took out their umbrellas and put on their coats and didn’t let the rain affect their fun.

Colton opened a bottle of whiskey and served up shots. They headed to a nearby coffee shop to dry off, get warm and sign their certificate.

Next, we took a hike to a filming location for Game of Thrones. The beautiful coastline was dotted with sea arches and caves.

As it was late September, there were very few people about, but there were plenty of sheep! There were a few fences to climb. Colton an ex wrestler put his strength to good use to lift Karen across them. He also took on the duty of tying up her bustle!

The final hours leading up to sunset were spent exploring more castle ruins and the mighty Giants Causeway.
